The General Secretariat for Development Planning (GSDP) is a relatively young institution, established through an Emiri Decision No (39) in 2006 and amended by Emiri Decision No (50) in 2009. GSDP has been tasked to develop a National Development Strategy for the State of Qatar in support of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
GSDP consists of the following departments and units:
Reporting to the Secretary-General:
- The Secretary-General's Office
- The Public Relations and Communications Unit
- The Internal Auditing Unit
Reporting to the Director-General:
GSDP works in partnership with Government ministries and agencies, the private sector and civil society, as well as with international organisations for the benefit of Qatar’s development and progress.
Pursuant to the Council Ministers' decision No (11) 2009 the General Secretariat for Development Planning shall have supervision over the Permanent Committee for Population and shall be independent in assuming its technical works. The Committee shall have a budget attached to that of the GSDP.
