The Social Development Department is conducting a small qualitative study, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour on unemployed Qataris, both men and women between the ages of 18 and 35, regardless of whether they have worked previously. The aim of the study is to arrive at a better understanding of the factors that stand in the way of  unemployed persons finding suitable jobs in the public or the private sectors. The study employs a case-study methodology through face-to-face interviews with unemployed persons, as well as through focus group interviews. The field work was completed in March 2009. Data analysis and report writing will be completed and shared by August 2009.  The results of the study will provide insights into the dynamics of the labour market and Qatarisation.
