The Department of Social Development (DSD) participates in developing the comprehensive vision and strategic planning framework for the area of human, social  and environmental development, which will help the achievement of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The DSD also supports the General Secretary’s efforts to engage with stakeholders and concerned agencies, and facilitate their contribution to the social development of Qatar, by providing support to their capacity building efforts.

Having developed the first strategic planning framework, the National Development Strategy (NDS), 2011-2016, DSD aims to support NDS implementation of the priority projects in the areas of human, social and environmental development, taking into account cross-sectoral linkages, including advocating the NDS priorities to stakeholders; refinement of objectives and related targets; and monitoring frameworks to assess progress achieved in implementation.

The Department of Social Development (DSD) supports GSDP’s mission to work with stakeholders to formulate Qatar’s long and medium term plans and strategies that identify the country’s priorities and objectives in human, social, economic and environmental areas.  DSD aims to develop the strategic planning framework that will help Qatar to achieve the human, social and environmental goals and objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

In carrying out its activities in support of the above objective, DSD works in partnership with other Departments and Units within GSDP, as well as with external stakeholders, including international partners, on evidence-based diagnostic policy analysis and strategies, dialogues, workshops and seminars.
