GSDP Awards five student research projects at Carnegie Mellon University-Qatar

GSDP was present as one of the judges in the Meeting of the Minds event held at Carnegie Mellon University-Qatar on Tuesday 30 April 2013.  This high-profile yearly event highlights research projects conducted by undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The following 5 projects were awarded GSDP’s prizes for being in line with Qatar’s National Development Strategy 2011-2016. One of the selected research projects is related to the health area, while two projects relate to the Business area, and two projects relate to the information technology area.

  1. Characterizing the Morphology of Pathogenic Fungi Isolated in the Qatari Hospital Setting.  Author : Mei ElGindi
  2. Investigation of Legal and Regulatory obstacles to Becoming an Entrepreneur in Qatar. Authors: Anas Chaudry, and Raheem Shahid
  3. Home-Based Business: A growing Phenomenon.  Authors: Abdulrahman Al-Muftah, Maryam Al-Subaie, Maryam Al-Thani
  4. What Affects Students’ Acceptance and Use of Technology?  Author: Fatema Akbar
  5. The Qatar Arabic Language Bank of Edits Project: Building Resources and Systems for the Automatic Correction of Arabic Text.  Postgraduate Project. Authors: Wajdi Zaghouani, and Ossama Obeid.
